Every Monday night is a listening event at the Hot Club. Things start with a thematic set of records, presented by Matthew “Fat Cat” Rivera or another Hot Club programmer, followed by a show-and-tell set of records from attendees.


Thursday April 30th Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey: Independent Women’s Blues

Join us for a special lecture and listening session hosted by Dr. Sophie Abramowitz focusing on the bold, independent blues of Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey! This event will offer social and historical context to their work, and give us new lenses for hearing their music.


Wednesday May 6th The Unseen Sidney Bechet

See unreleased footage of legendary jazz pioneer Sidney Bechet for the first time including 1951 and 1955 live performances in great quality as well as Bechet's wedding. Includes a special concert performance with a surprise guest soprano saxophonist!

Russell Hall is one of the preeminent bassists in the New York City music scene, born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Miami, Florida. Join us for a special Mothers Day listening experience as Hall leads a trio in a rare, intimate setting!
