Every Monday night is a listening event at the Hot Club. Things start with a thematic set of records, presented by Matthew “Fat Cat” Rivera or another Hot Club programmer, followed by a show-and-tell set of records from attendees.
85 years ago WKCR-FM began broadcasting with the recording "Swing is Here" by Gene Krupa, featuring Roy Eldridge, Chu Berry and Benny Goodman. WKCR, Phil Schaap's home, was where the Hot Club of New York began, and Matthew "Fat Cat" Rivera continues to host the Hot Club on the Air every Thursday.
Join us at the Hot Club on October 7th for a special shellac listening extravaganza featuring hot records that tell the story of WKCR's jazz programming in the early days, including the first broadcasts of Thelonious Monk! The session will be broadcast live in NYC on 89.9FM and around the world at wkcr.org.
Wednesday, October 28th Benny Green | Piano History Masterclass

In a career spanning over four decades, pianist Benny Green has worked with some of the greatest musicians of all time including Art Blakey, Betty Carter, Ray Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Arnett Cobb, Milt Jackson, Etta Jones, Oscar Peterson, Stanley Turrentine and so many more.
On Wednesday October 28th, Green will give a two hour masterclass sharing wisdom gained from working with these legends and digging into the Hot Club collection to illustrate the nuances of Jazz piano style development.
With performance, storytelling and listening, this event will be an immersive, intimate, one of a kind experience for a very small audience. Tickets are limited to 35 people. You don't want to miss it!
